Maybe it was the email that stated I had been neglecting my blog. Or perhaps it was the millions of times I visited it...not sure if I was looking for inspiration to add to it or if I was looking to see if that troll that occasionally visits my house had taken it upon himself to make a post.
Obviously, neither has occured for more than a few weeks. So here's the CliffsNotes version of what we have been up to since my last post.
Hold on to your seats.
Here is our kitchen. The morning before AAA Restoration took it apart.
I can't say I ever LOVED our kitchen, but in it's short lived life with us, it served its purpose.
This is the kitchen I came home to 3 days later.
This is the sink (notice the affixed toaster) that after 2 weeks with no kitchen or sink or any sort of appliances, Jason constructed at work.
I love a handy man. And almost as much, I now love doing dishes.
This is the kitchen I came home to when Jason and his Dad decided to repair our sadly
damaged subfloor. I went back to work crying.
taken with us. Otherwise known as Jason's baby sister, Lindsay.
And then we wined and dined with some people known as "The Family".
Names have been deleted to protect the guilty.
And then we got to use the tickets I had purchased like 10 YEARS AGO for our anniversary
and see one of our all time favorite things in the world.
flight of the conchords.
Look it up. Love it.
And on a number of occasions we would visit the local Home Depot.
Lola would lead the way. She likes home improvement.
Thank God someone in our house does.
And it wouldn't be a weekend at the Willfords if some tree didn't get murdered.
My garden needed sun. This tree was the sacrifice. Sorry friend. You'll be missed.
And then Jason showed Kindred how to SawsAll the heck out of that tree we murdered.
Guess it won't be missed that much afterall.
Our little Lola has taken a liking to sitting at her table which I happily scored at an incredible garage sale.
Ah the life of the poor and indebt.
At least Lola has nice furniture.
One Saturday morning we removed the remaining top cabinets,
thus eliminating any resemblance of the kitchen that used to be. And all storage space.
Good thing for usable totes from Harmons shipped from France.
Then the real excitement began. The parentals came down to help with preparing the floor
to get some actual real flooring put down. Jason worked on the drywall while Craig tore up the carpet.
I hated that carpet.
PS...take note of the nasty oddly placed pantry THING on the right.
A few short hours later I found the menfolk who were admiring their work.
The ugly nasty pantry THING had proven to be "unnecessary" or "a nuisance" or
"down right stupid to have been put in the kitchen in the first place"
And so those tear it out and remodel it crazy men, well, they decided to remove the dang thing.
And when simply cutting the drywall away wasn't fast enough...
Craig pulled out the big guns, er hammer.
a uniquely industrial air vent.
It has yet to be decided what is going to happen with said air vent.
Apparently Obi Wan Kenobi came over too.
And then a few days later I decided the garden needed more sunlight.
So Handy Man crawled up in the condemed tree house to murder some more branches,
all in the name of love.
My garden, slowly growing...almost ready for some lettuce picking!
Our backyard...from the side of the yard that I like to call "the secret garden" looking towards the side I like to call...the junkyard garden. It's like having two yards in one.
And after all that was said and done...I got to use something I have been coveting for some time now. And it found it's way into my life and hands by way of a sweet sweet angel.
Here's to espresso made on our ghetto bbq in our tree murdering backyard.
I'd have it no other way.
